Spontaneous support
for our products and services

Stick players often tend to improvise. This can take the form of the written and electronic word as well as the musical line. Presented here with permission of each writer are some of the spontaneous and unsolicited comments from E-mail posts, customer correspondence, and magazine features over recent years and up to the present.

A great many of the comments contained in the following 39 categories of goods and services were written by Stickists corresponding on Vance Gloster's "Stickwire", a long standing interactive E-mail discussion group in real time (more or less). Extensive archives of all past Stickwire threads and themes, organized by month and year, are online here.

Many other comments were posted to "Sticknews", the monthly online digest publication of Stick players' instruction, announcements, news and reviews online here.

The Stickist.com website also has a very active forum, with hundreds of subscribers from around the world.

We have all the original posts, correspondence and articles containing these quotes on file and available for review upon request.

Without the dedicated Stick musicians and the inspiration they reflect back to us, there would be no Stick Enterprises. We are proud of the incredibly rich variety of music being performed and recorded by Stickists around the world.

Grouped under the following headings are some of the more informative and colorful quotes by our customers and supporters. Please check out some of the positive comments coming our way in whatever category of goods and services interests you.

All the Best and thank you all for your comments, Emmett.

Tunings

Larry from California writes:
"On the subject of tuning - to me the fifths bass tuning is a huge part of what makes the Stick the Stick. Not to mention the thin gauges of the strings as compared to a bass guitar. This opens up the whole world of left-hand chords, which sound so great because of the extra distance between the voices and the clarity of those ringing high bass strings. That's what makes the Stick so full and orchestral-sounding. You can easily reach distances that a piano player can only dream of with just one hand. Very cool. A whole world of harmonic language is at your feet."

Learning

Michael from California writes:
"I've studied many different styles, and earlier in my life, played professionally for many years. However, not since I started playing the Stick three and a half years ago, did I really start to understand the harmonic music theory from a three dimensional perspective. In large part, I credit my fantastic teacher and friend, Don Schiff, without whose help, I would surely still be struggling to grasp the instrument. And The Stick gets credit for the other half of my learning."
