EQUALIZATION SAMPLES

The first four are based on the same pattern with defferent eq settings.

Sustained bass chord sweeping throught the mid range filter
Bass groove with bass and treble and mid boost

Here are two different bass chord parts, each with their own eq setting
Warm bass chords
Bright bass chord arpeggios

This setting uses a lot of midrange and bass, for a nice fat lead tone
Very warm bass solo

Here are two different versions of a familiar bass line, the second just has more highs
Midrangey bassline tone
Add some brightness

Here are three different eq versions of the same melody chord progression
Melody chords bass and treble boost

Adding mids rounds out the tone of higher lead lines
High melody solo with mid boost

A lot of bass eq on the melody provides a "sonic floor"
Bassy melody solo

Slightly different eq setting bring out both parts when played together
Bass and chord groove, more mids on melody side

COMPARATIVE SOUNDS SAMPLES
These samples were recorded without any equalization to show the basic tone of the StepABout as compared to two other popular preamps for The Stick. The first is an SWR-SM-400 bass head, which has a tube preamp. The second is the Rane SP-13 transistor Stick Preamp.

All of the saples were "normalized" with the melody samples then bumped down 1.5 dB to match the bass sample levels more accurately. No other processing was used. The files were then bounced straight to mp3 format.

The instrument chosen was a new bamboo instrument with light gauge strings and the standard Stickup passive pickup.

Other samples with some eq tone examples will be posted soon.
